The Charivari theme for 1999 was Chess Courts, inspiring incredible, colourful constructions of knights, bishops and castles.

Dreaming Sea

For the second part of Strange Cargo's Millennium Voyage Trilogy performances were staged in and around the ancient battlements and landscape of Dover Castle.

Millennium Clocks

Thousands of local people celebrated the end of century together in projections and music before witnessing the burning of the clock of the second millennium.
