- public art + people
- can art change the way people feel about their community?
- can public art be something that is already there?
- can public art make people feel safer?
can public art be something that is already there?
Strange Cargo have been commissioned by The Creative Foundation to make an artwork for the Folkestone Triennial 2011 alongside a cohort of acclaimed international artists including Cornelia Parker, Zineb Sedira, Martin Creed and Cristina Iglesias.
Strange Cargo are creating Everywhere Means Something to Someone, a multi-layered map of Folkestone made of words and images contributed by people who have lived in, or visited, the town over an extended period of time and who have a deep rooted connection with the place.
We hope our People's Guide Book will transform the experience of strangers, and local people, when they visit the town.
