jude the liverpool giant
Strange Cargo took up residence for five weeks in the summer of 2007 in the World Museum Liverpool. Jude's character was drawn directly from the hours of consultation on the streets of the city. Her appearance was the combination of dozens of local faces, who were photographed in order to capture the look of the beautiful Liverpudlian girls.
The history of the city is depicted within the folds of her dress and her name was chosen by the people of Liverpool, for reasons that don't really need explaining! The Liverbird big heads who accompany Jude, were based on the famous sculptures perched atop the Three Graces buildings on the River Mersey.
Before moving into her permanent home in the city's new museum, Jude is on display in the splendid St. Georges Hall.
