Strange Cargo were asked to creatively consult with the people of the area we are based in, to find out what they thought about living in the area, what they felt could be improved and what their hopes and aspirations were for the future.

East Folkestone, the home of the regenerated Creative Quarter, is to many local people a friendly and relatively attractive part of the town. Statistically, however, it is an area of deprivation with high rates of unemployment, disability and teenage pregnancies.

We were keen to find the people behind these statistics and see what their aspirations were for themselves, their families and their neighbourhood, and where there were barriers to these aspirations being met.
