We use many techniques and strategies to capture consultation. Filmmaking is a universally recognised medium that is particularly valuable when an informal approach is needed for example, when gathering material through discussions with groups. Attractive to both young and old, it can capture a number of views and create an easily distributed final outcome.
In 2009 Strange Cargo created Film4Folkestone, a project which involved five filmmakers delivering the results of a community consultation project within East Folkestone.
Working closely with local people, the specially commissioned films ensure that their views on life, opportunities, lifestyle and environment reached a wider audience and continue to act as a catalyst for discussion after the project finished. Also see Portrait of a Nation
