Cheriton Lights Artist: Sally Penfold

23 February 2013

Laced with Light has been made in partnership with Cite Internationale de la Dentelle, the wonderful Lace Museum at Calais in France. Artist Sally Penfold is working with Strange Cargo to create a body of new digital artworks inspired by the archive of antique lace held at this prestigious institution. Sally's images reflect myths and stories associated with winter and the lacey images will be on display in 25 front windows in Cheriton, loaned by residents who have volunteered their homes as exhibition space for the festival. The Laced with Light trail will reach far into the streets of the town and a map will be produced for the Festival for people to find the locations and visit the works. The windows will be lit between 5pm and 9pm daily from 23rd February for a two week period.

Generously funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust and Arts Council England.
