schools, teachers & young learners - beyond the classroom

beyond the classroom

"Charivari Day gives children a real sense of community as they take their place alongside the other schools, marveling at the creations made. It's particularly good that our younger artists get to see what is produced by the older pupils, it gives them something to aspire to."
Joyce Rhodes, Pent Valley School

Strange Cargo put great value on projects that not only link schools to each other, but involve them with the wider community. The Portrait of a Nation finale event took place in Liverpool, we took a party of students from Canterbury High to the European City of Culture 2008 to represent their city in the national exhibition and youth conference.

Students took part in a cross border celebration, following UK and French workshops, students travelled to take part in the traditional St Nicholas Parade in Boulogne and French students travelled to the UK to take part in the Winter Wishes Parade.
