Our charivari masterclasses are anticipated events in themselves. Teachers are invited to our workshop, introduced to the theme for the year and shown how to create the Charivari carnival costumes.
After the hard work everyone gets together with a glass of wine and some food. Many of our participating teachers have been coming for a number of years and for everyone involved this is an event which marks the beginning of summer.
The demonstration costumes are taken back to their classroom along with a kit of materials and templates, everything (except the staples) to create the costumes with their class.
We have recently developed a weekend workshop for teachers and community groups to create large backpack costumes. This enables them to extend their skills by creating a centre piece for their section and has been a popular addition to our workshop programme. See charivari day for event pictures.
