Social networking platforms are valuable public spaces for discussion and an easy and informal way for participants to keep in touch with us and share opinions, photos and stories. In OPP2 we created a site to share and map photographs. Previous projects have highlighted a number of challenges around participation that need to be overcome, which is why we are dedicating the following year to the research and development of projects designed to explore participation and the digital realm.
Folkestone Forward is exploring Networked Neighbourhoods and how the style of social networking sites can be created in real neighbourhoods, in the form of innovative, eyecatching, community noticeboards.
Stretching New Boundaries, our participatory research programme kicks off with a project exploring the gallery, digital participation and social networking.
