Forget Me Not

Cheriton / November 2018

Heritage Lottery Fund has generously supported a project for Cheriton to commemorate the towns role in the First World War. We will be running a free family workshop over half term at Strange Cargo and a talk by local historian Vince Williams on 10th November. Please come along and join in, there will be lots to do and lots to hear about.

We will also delivering a series of school workshops in Cheriton schools to learn about and make objects that reflect life for local people at home and on the front line during the 1914-1918 war. Strange Cargo is posting out a special invitation to a number of Cheriton homes. If you receive the postcard shown below, please contact us as we are inviting these houses to hang a commemorative wreath on their front door over the Armistice weekend in November as they are one of around 100 known homes once lived in by one of Cheriton's fallen servicemen. If you do not receive a postcard and you know that your home was also one of these please get in touch. Thanks also to Cllrs. Peter Gane, John Collier, Patricia West and Roger West for their support.
