Ruth McDonald

Earth and Water

28 March - 09 April 2014

Ruth McDonald gained a MA Fine Art from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2010.Working from a studio in a Kentish copse, her work portrays woodland landscape and the sea often illuminated by failing light and the moon and the traces left by past inhabitants.

“Earth and Water” pulls together an exhibition of prints, paintings, gesso panels and artists books reflecting McDonald’s frequent walks in the landscape: a landscape of trees, crepuscular light and surging tides. There is a dark element to the work, with themes of burial and drowning never too far from the surface.

Since 2011 McDonald’s prints have been exhibited in London, China, America and more recently Turner Contemporary.
