26 September - 09 October 2013
SUBSET comprises of eight artists’ works, presented in a context different from their original intentions. The intimate space at George’s House Gallery has enabled the artists to investigate new possibilities for this recent work. The space presents a challenge to create a coherent whole from a diverse range of creative approaches.
These eight recent MA Fine Art post-graduates will exhibit highlights from their degree show, which was held at the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury (30th August – 3rd September 2013). The work is a major constituent of the artists’ individual practices and is the culmination of their final project development. The variety of works exhibited in SUBSET encompasses: painting, mixed-media drawing and printing, installation, sculpture and photography. The work focuses on subjects such as displacement, movement, humanity, the past, representation and gravity. The exhibition is an attempt to form a composed visual and thematic negotiation between the works on show.
